For Generators, who thrive on engaging deeply with tasks that light up your soul, hitting a slump can feel particularly disheartening. Your nature is not just to do work, but to immerse yourself in work that feels deeply fulfilling and energizing. When that connection to your work wanes, the energy that typically flows so freely through you can start to stagnate.
This moment, however challenging, is an invitation—an invitation to reflect, to realign, and to recalibrate your habits and actions to find more joy in your pursuits.
This is exactly the point when a lot of my clients come to me so we can not only make their business fit like a glove, but also elevate their online presence by seeing and owning their unique set of gifts.
I’ve gathered some sacred practices and intuitive tips that I usually reserve for my coaching clients, which aim to help you navigate through these foggy times and find your spark once again.
Ready to rediscover your zest for life and work? Let’s dive in.
1. Reconnect with What Excites You: As a Generator, your spark comes from engaging in work that lights up your soul. Think about it, when was the last time you felt truly invigorated by your work? Identify those tasks or projects that make your heart sing and spend more time there. It’s like when you choose to work on that creative project first thing in the morning and suddenly, your day looks brighter!
2. Respond to Everything: Your strategy of responding IS your fuel! So keep your eyes and ears wide open everywhere you go. When something comes along that makes your heart say a loud “yes,” go for it! You can overhear a conversation in a cafe, or stumble on an inspiring idea while scrolling socials or your emails. That juicy “Oooh! Love this!” is your guide to thrilling, fulfilling work!
3. Refine Your Tasks: Take a good, hard look at your current tasks and cut out the dead weight. If a task doesn’t bring you joy or satisfaction, let it go or delegate it. Free up that space for things that matter. It’s like decluttering your closet… you make room for outfits that make you feel fabulous!
4. Seek Constructive Feedback: Don’t shy away from asking for feedback from coaches, friends, or even clients! This can spark new ideas or directions that again activate that Sacral response in you and thus activate your energy. Just like that time a client’s suggestion led you to tweak a service offering, making it a total hit.
5. Create an Energizing Routine: Sometimes routine gets a bad rap as it can become boring, but a thoughtfully created routine that includes energizing breaks and activities can keep your Sacral in that creative state. Imagine scheduling a midday dance break to shake off the sluggishness. Fun, right?! That’s what I’m talking ‘bout, not something like the 75 Hard Challenge that depletes you…
6. Collaborate with Others: There’s magic in collaboration, especially for you as Generator. Work with others whose energy complements yours, and watch how it transforms a routine project into an exhilarating experience. You’ve probably done this before… like that workshop or IG live you co-hosted which turned out to be a blast!
7. Recount Your Achievements: Take a moment to toast to your triumphs, big or small. Celebrating your wins is crucial as it puts you into an abundance and gratitude mindset from which we manifest more good into our lives. I personally have a little Celebration Journal into which I write things down each day, without skipping. This forces me to write even the smallest things down, which again puts me in a great mood!
8. Practice Mindfulness: Integrating mindfulness into your daily life can do wonders. It clears the mental clutter, helping you tune into your gut reactions—your decision-making powerhouse. Picture starting your day with a ten-minute abundance mindset meditation, or doing a 10min breathwork as a break from work (instead of scrolling socials). This is a part of my daily routine, and I can tell you that my Nervous System and mindset have never been more regulated. Nothing can faze me any more, when before it was easy for me to fall into big Emotional Center waves.
9. Enhance Your Environment: Spruce up your workspace to make it a source of inspiration. Whether it’s tidying up, hanging inspiring quotes, lighting candles, or adding a cozy throw to your chair, make your space a place where you WANT to be. It’s like turning a work space into a retreat space.
10. Move Your Body in Fun Ways: Keeping moving is non-negotiable for managing your abundant Generator energy. If we don’t use up that Sacral energy, we are prone to overthinking at night. Moving your hips and dancing with yourself (in the mirror) is not only fun, but trauma healing since a lot of trauma is stored in the hips. And regular exercise not only declutters your mind but also elevates your mood and productivity. I love biking around Toronto, or going to shoot some hoops with my friends to make things more fun than just being at a gym.
