When you set up your home office in alignment with the Mountains environment, you’re inviting in the clarity and perspective you need to elevate your business.

For entrepreneurs with this environment, creating a workspace that feels expansive and grounded helps you think strategically and connect to your purpose. This space will inspire you to operate from a higher level.

To find out if Mountains is your environment, visit myhumandesign.com to get your free chart, and then at the bottom you’ll find what your environment is.

Now, let’s get into how to create your perfect Mountains-inspired workspace!

  1. Elevated Workspace: Set your desk or working area in a higher part of your home, such as an upstairs room, a loft, or any place where you have a sense of being “above” your surroundings. If possible, work in a room with a view of the outside, particularly a wide, open vista like the horizon, trees, or a skyline.
  2. Desk with a Clear Overview: Position your desk in a spot where you can see the entire room, similar to how a mountain provides a clear, elevated view. This setup not only mimics the expansive perspective of a mountain but also gives you a sense of control and awareness, helping you stay mentally clear and focused while working.
  3. Create a “Lookout” Point: It’s great when you can periodically step back and get a sense of perspective, whether through a literal window view or an elevated vantage point within your home. Having a place to reflect and gain clarity will help you process information better and maintain clear big picture overview of your actions (which is a key strength of the Mountains environment).
  4. Use Vertical Space: Make use of tall/vertical storage, shelves, or wall displays to reflect the height and expansiveness of a mountain environment. This will also help keep your workspace organized while giving you a sense of upward growth and perspective.
  5. Create Depth and Space with Mirrors or Windows: If your workspace feels cramped or closed off, use mirrors to create the illusion of more space and depth. If possible, sit near a window that offers a view, which helps you stay connected to the external world and maintain a sense of expansive perspective.
  6. Surround Yourself with Visionary Elements: As Mountains environments support gaining perspective and seeing the big picture, surround yourself with visionary tools. This could be a vision board, inspirational quotes, or long-term goal planning displayed where you can see them. It’ll remind you to focus on higher-level thinking and strategic planning.
  7. Declutter and Simplify: Mountains environments are clear and open, so declutter your office to give it a sense of spaciousness and order. Keep only the essentials visible, and store everything else neatly out of sight. A minimalist setup will help you stay focused and maintain mental clarity.
  8. Incorporate Natural Elements: Bring in elements that evoke the feeling of being in nature, like plants, wooden furniture, or nature-inspired art. These touches can help you feel connected to the tranquility and grounding energy of the mountains.
  9. Take Reflective Breaks: Since the Mountains environment thrives on contemplation and distance, build in breaks where you step away from your work to reflect. These could be moments spent looking out the window, meditating, or simply stretching and recalibrating.
